Harold L. Canaday
Harold L. Canaday, age 75, a resident of the Colorado Springs area since 1960, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at his home. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a drywall contractor who owned Canaday Drywall.
Harold Leon Canaday was born on March 10, 1937 in Sturgis, South Dakota to the late Harry “Warren” and Irona (Riley) Canaday. He was a 1955 graduate of Keya Paha County High School in Springview, Nebraska. He married Wilma Jean Berk on April 3, 1961 in Colorado Springs. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy. Harold enjoyed fishing, restoring classic cars, and football. He was a member of the Crown Victoria Association, specializing in 1954, 1955 and 1956 Crown Victoria automobiles.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma; three sons: Wade (wife, Sheila) Canaday of Peyton; Jeffrey Canaday of Parker, Colorado; and David Canaday of Colorado Springs. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Travis and Jennifer Canaday of Peyton.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers: Ronald and Gerald; and his sister: Betty Lou Canaday. Also preceding him in death was Jeffrey’s partner, Marten Peterson.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. Funeral services will be he held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Graveside services with Navy Honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging area “B,” 3698 S. Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado.
