Helen Marie (Anderson) Mattson, loving mother, joined the Author of Love on July 4, 2015. She is celebrating in God’s presence with her husband, two babies, as well as many family members and friends. Those left behind to cherish her memory and live out the lessons she taught are her sons: Steven (wife Linda) of Divide, Carl (wife Sharon) of Colorado Springs, Allan (wife Radean) of Valencia, California, Paul (wife Brenda) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Jonathan (wife Joanna) of Colorado Springs; fifteen grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Born in the Bronx, New York on January 22, 1933 to Carl Anderson and Hannah (Wenberg) Anderson, Helen grew up in Dividing Creek, New Jersey and was known to her childhood friends and family as “May.” She married David Mattson, the love of her life, on May 3, 1952 at age 19.
She led the life of a busy Air Force wife and proud mother of five boys. She supported her husband as he started the Tick Tock Shop, a local watch and clock sales and service business. She loved spending time with her family, playing the piano, gardening, flower arranging, reading, doing puzzles and beautifying her surroundings. She was a member of Mesa Hills Bible Church and had a heart for missions and needy people around the world.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, and a memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Mesa Hills Bible Church, 615 West Uintah, Colorado Springs, CO. Memorial donations may be made to Crossworld for the House of Hope Back to School project (Project 91232). In Haiti, kids come to House of Hope with life-threatening medical problems. For some kids, House of Hope is their only home. House of Hope is planning to send 50 kids to a local Christian school this fall to begin their education — the key to their future. When underprivileged children receive an education through House of Hope, they become disciple-makers from all professions, breaking the cycle of poverty and training godly leaders for Haiti.
Checks may be made payable to Crossworld and mailed to 10000 N Oak Trafficway, Kansas City MO 64155. Online giving is also available at http://www.crossworld.org/give/projects/house-of-hope-back-to-school-project/. Please include a note that it is in memory of Helen “May” Mattson.
