Helyn L. Means, 94, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2016. She was a resident of Colorado Springs for over 50 years. She was a homemaker.
Helyn was born on March 10, 1922 to Eugene G. Deems and Elizabeth (Lukens) Deems in Uhrichsville, Ohio. On September 2, 1950, she married Walter E. Means in Carnegie, Pennsylvania.
“Geems” was fond of sewing and quilting, and often made clothes for her grandchildren. She also loved going shopping at Walgreens. She attended high school in Carnegie, and after graduating was a military wife.
Helyn is survived by her grandchildren: Dawn Means and Thomas Means (wife Donna), both of Colorado Springs; her great-grandchildren: Daisy, Holly, Vanna, Cody, Lyssa, and Cheyanne; and her great-great grandchildren: Lucas, Gracie, Cameron, and Lacody. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter, and her children, Susan and Tom.
“Geems” was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Her smile lit up a room and her caring ways will forever be remembered.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Helyn’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
