Hermine Aumayr Roberts, age 88, passed away on August 26, 2014. She was a resident of Colorado Springs for the past 20 years, after having lived in Munich, Germany, for 20 years. Prior to that she lived in various places within the United States and Germany while her husband, Walter, served in the U.S. Army. She was a homemaker as well as an employee of AAFES Europe.
Hermine was born on May 25, 1926, to Franz and Maria Aumayr in Linz, Austria. On May 17, 1945, she was married to Walter Harold Roberts Sr., of St. Louis, Missouri.
Fond of family, needlework, cooking and music, Hermine also loved to dance, ski and take walks in the woods of Europe. She had been a member of the Austrian national swim team and was an accomplished partners ice skater. She will forever be remembered for her wonderful Apfel Strudel.
She is survived by her husband: Walter H. Roberts, Sr. of Colorado Springs; her son: Walter H. Roberts, Jr. (Karen); her grandson: Frank L. Roberts (Luci) of Loveland, Colorado; her granddaughter, Rachel L. Roberts Fleming (Brian) of Durango, Colorado; and four great-grandsons: Forest and Holles Roberts, and Sean and Jordan Fleming. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Karl and Franz Aumayr; and one sister, Gretl Aumayr Klement.
Hermine’s memorial service will be held Friday, September 26, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd. Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. A reception for family and friends will follow at Winslow Court, 3920 E. San Miguel, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.
