Hildegard M. Daniels, age 70, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 13, 2012 surrounded by her husband and children. She had fought a courageous battle with an aggressive cancer.
Hildegard Maria Klein was born on January 3, 1942 in Althof, Gemeinde Gerbach, Kreis Rockenhausen, Germany to the late Albert and Katharina (Gruebler) Klein. She was raised and educated in Germany where she later met and married Frederick “Ted” Daniels. They were married in early 1962.
Hilde was an elementary education teacher, but for most of her life was a foreign language teacher for the Department of Defense. She was a devoted member of Family of Christ Lutheran Church in Monument and enjoyed camping, fishing and crocheting.
She is survived by her husband: Ted of Colorado Springs; her children: Patrick (wife, Maria Elena) Daniels of Aurora, Colorado; Rose Maria (husband, Leroy) Notterman of Roswell, New Mexico; and Doreen (husband, Mark) O’Neil of Bedford, New Hampshire.
Hilde is also survived by her wonderful grandchildren: Alex Daniels, Thomas Daniels, Christopher Notterman, Andrea (husband, Daemond) Turgeon, Brian O’Neil, Daniel O’Neil and Mark O’Neil. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Taylor, Kaylee, J.D., and Talia. She has two sisters: Irene and Karola.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Family of Christ Lutheran Church, 675 W. Baptist Road, Monument, Colorado 80921. A luncheon reception will follow at the church. Private inurnment will be at the Church Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Hilde’s name may be made to the Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation, 625 E. Pikes Peak Avenue, Suite 600, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903; or to the Colorado Springs Rescue Mission, 5 W. Las Vegas Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903.
She will be dearly missed.
