Hildegard Margarete Rucker, 84, died peacefully in Colorado Springs on May 11, 2012. She was born on June 12, 1927 in Leipzig, Germany.
An only child, Mrs. Rucker attended school in Wurzburg, later worked as a secretary for the U.S. Army in Germany near the end of WWII, and met her husband-to-be, Delmon Rucker. The couple married on May 18, 1955 in Montreal, Canada. Their two children, Lorrain and Charles, were born in Ft. Carson, Colorado.
Mrs. Rucker moved her family a number of times, as required by Sgt. Major Rucker’s military assignments, and in 1969, upon his retirement, the family returned permanently to Colorado Springs. Mrs. Rucker was a member of the Retired Enlisted Association, and was active with the Senior Centers at Hillside and Hancock.
Mrs. Rucker was predeceased by her husband in 2006. She is survived by her son and two grandchildren in Texas, and her daughter in California.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel.
