Ilse Gertrude Irizarry, 93, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018. She was born March 7, 1925 to Louise and Karl Hanss in Neuscheidt, Germany and grew up in Sitterswald, Germany.

On March 2, 1962, she married Jorge Irizarry, a military serviceman, and spent the next 20 years traveling to Puerto Rico, Texas, Louisiana, Kentucky and back to Germany and France. After retirement they settled in beautiful Colorado Springs to enjoy the outdoors and be closer to family.

She was a fabulous cook, baker, seamstress, gardener, and loved to crochet and knit scarves, hats and gloves. She enjoyed camping, music, dancing and singing. Her true life enjoyment was making wonderful memories with family and friends.

Ilse was a very kind and generous soul who helped and supported her family vehemently. She was a prankster with a great sense of humor and we will miss her dearly.

Ilse is survived by her 3 sisters, Liesel Reinhold, Hedi (Adolf) Brandts, Elli (Dieter) Loew; and nieces and nephews, Rosita (Joe) Hendricks, Bregitte (Mark) Bishop, Brenda (Gary) Thompson, Inge (Richard) Tumbaga, Lonnie (Debi) Matheny, Carmen (Jamie) Powers, Rika (Bernd) Strubel, Gabi (Dieter) Eberhardt, Thomas Brandts, Heidrun (Manfred), Ute (Edgar), Wilfried Reinhold and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Jorge; her parents; her sister and brother in-law, Emmy and Charles Michael; a niece, Rosita Brandts; and a nephew, Dirk Loew.

A private celebration of life service will be held Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. A private interment will be held at a military cemetery at a later date.
