Ilse Perkins, age 88, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at the Pikes Peak Hospice Residence. She was an Army wife, homemaker, and mother.
Ilse Erna Mattick was born on October 1, 1923 in Hanswalde, Germany to the late Hermann and Marie (Sonnenberg) Mattick. She attended high school in Germany and met and married her husband, John Perkins, while he was stationed in Europe on May 15, 1949 in Wels, Austria. She followed her husband on his various assignments, raised a family, and enjoyed gardening, cooking, animals, and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons: John (wife, “P.J.”) Perkins of Colorado Springs; William Perkins of Colorado Springs; Kenneth (wife, Steffany) Perkins of Jacksonville, Florida; and her daughter: Catherine Perkins of Colorado Springs. She is also survived by her two brothers: Gerhard (wife, Gisela) Mattick of Hamburg, Germany; and Heinz (wife, Babel) Mattick of Germany; and her sister: Grete Eckmann of Rellingen, Germany; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Cremation is planned and she will be remembered at the Veteran’s Honor Court at the Shrine of Remembrance.

Ilse will be best remembered for her sense of humor and her wonderful cooking.
