Ione Tudor, age 89, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1965, passed away on December 30, 2011 at Emeritus at Bear Creek. She had been a legal secretary, homemaker and Air Force wife.
Ione Victoria Hill was born on May 22, 1922 in Canby, Minnesota to the late Ralph E. and Mabel (Amundsen) Hill. She was a 1939 graduate of Canby High School and then went on to Katherine Gibbs College. After graduating from Katherine Gibbs she worked in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she met her husband. She married William Lewis Tudor on February 12, 1946 on the family farm near Canby, Minnesota.
She was a former member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church and the Retired Officers Association Wives’ Club. Mrs. Tudor enjoyed knitting, gardening, crosswords, and especially enjoyed her loving family. During her marriage to Bill she served her country at diplomatic functions as spouse of the Air Attaché in Saigon; Tokyo; and Ottawa.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia A. Tudor (husband, Peter) Sarda of Durham, North Carolina; and her son, William L. (wife, Gail) Tudor, Jr., of Auburn, California. She has six grandchildren: Major Meredith Sarda, Eglin AFB, Florida; Captain Matthew Sarda, Vandenberg AFB, California; Ryan Sarda, Wilkesboro, North Carolina; William Lewis Tudor, III; George Tudor; and Stacey Tudor all of California. Ione has three great-grandchildren: Andrew; Melody; and Holly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. William L. Tudor, USAF Retired, in 1993 and her daughter, Victoria Lee Tudor, in 2009.
Cryptside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Gate of Heaven. Memorials in her name may be made to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or the American Heart Association.
She will be missed by all who knew her for her warmth, her laughter and her loving attitude. Many thanks to Emeritus at Bear Creek and Evercare Hospice for their kindness and support.
