Irene Abeyta-Wilson, 56, of Colorado Springs, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 24.
She was born to Levi and Margaret Abeyta on October 14, 1958, in Espanola, New Mexico. Irene attended Alamogordo Senior High School in 1976 and received a degree at KEE Business College. She met Alvin Burk in 1997, and they lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Irene was a member of St. Joseph Church. She loved concerts, travelling, cooking, and devoted her life to helping others. Above all, her life always revolved around her family. She was an amazing “Nana” and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Irene is survived by her mother, Margaret Abeyta; three children: Erica Forrest, Tennessee; Pamela Chelgren, Colorado; and David Wilson, Colorado; nine grandchildren: Anthony, Christopher, Angelica, Whitney, Jacob, Joshua, Dillon Keanon, and Devon; one great-grandchild, Isabela; five siblings: Yvonne Suekinos, Carolyn, Ralph, Robert, Michael Abeyta; and several nieces and nephews. She now joins in Heaven her father, Levi Abeyta.
A memorial service celebrating Irene’s life will be held Friday, March 27, 2015, 4:30 p.m. at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. A reception will follow at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 South Union Boulevard.
