Irene Bruns, 70, passed away on July 27, 2015 at home in Colorado Springs. Irene was born in Saginaw, Michigan and graduated from Kelloggsville High School in 1963. She moved from Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1965. After graduating from Penrose Nursing School, she made her home and career as a LPN at Penrose Hospital and Centura in Colorado Springs.
Irene was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma, and siblings: Carla, Elma, Monte, and Laurna. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Noreen; 4 nieces and 1 nephew: Beth, Coleen, Eileen, Joann, and James; godchildren, Jennifer and Daniel; and countless friends in Colorado Springs and throughout the country.
Irene was very active at Redeemer Lutheran Church. She was a member and officer in the CLPN and NLPN Associations for many years.
A viewing will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at the Shrine of Remembrance. Memorial services are planned for 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2226 North Corona Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80907. A reception will follow at Crusader Hall and committal services will then be held at Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Garden of Angels at 4:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made in Irene’s memory to Redeemer Lutheran Church or the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.
