Irene E. McGibbon
Irene E. McGibbon passed away on August 2, 2013 at Sunrise at University Park in Colorado Springs.
Irene E. Frank McGibbon was born August 6, 1928 in Stone Arabia, New York to J. Frederick and Elizabeth Hohner Frank. She was raised in Canajoharie, New York by her beloved stepmother, Millicent, after the passing of her mother at an early age. She graduated from Canajoharie High School and Amsterdam School of Commerce.
Irene worked at the Canajoharie Library, Triumpo Insurance Agency, and the Amsterdam Savings Bank before working as a Real Estate Agent. She later became a broker and opened the McGibbon Real Estate Agency in Amsterdam, New York. In later years she worked for Cushing Stone and the NYS Thruway Authority before moving to Colorado Springs to be closer to family. Once in Colorado Springs, she provided professional housesitting services to select clients who relied on her trustworthiness.
Irene was a talented and exceptional artist, using pen and ink, oils, and water colors. She had several one-woman shows throughout the area and her work was displayed at local banks, libraries, senior centers, and art shows.
She is survived by a sister, Marion McLaughlin of Buffalo, New York; her daughters: Jean (Bill) Barnoski of Amsterdam, New York, and Bunny (Skip) Jackson of Colorado Springs; her son, James McGibbon of Colorado Springs; many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her stepmother, and her three brothers: Walter, Norbert (Curly), and Jerry Frank.

A memorial service to celebrate Irene’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Inurnment will be private.
