Irene R. Small
Irene R. Small, age 88, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1985 and formerly of Vail, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at the Village at Skyline. She was a retired floral designer, homemaker, military wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Ruth Irene Zacharias was born on June 22, 1924 in Los Angeles, California to Karl A. and Emma A. (Lange) Zacharias. She graduated from high school in California in 1942 and graduated from UCLA with a business finance degree. She was married on August 6, 1950 La Canada, California to Fredrick E. Small, who passed away in 2007.
Irene enjoyed volunteer work, helping the underprivileged, was an election judge, enjoyed singing, volunteered with the Salvation Army, and enjoyed her bible study at Village Seven Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her two sons: Scott C. Small and Patrick W. (wife, Lorrie) Small of Peyton, Colorado; and her daughter: Carolyn Petersen of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; four grandchildren: Samantha Small; Brandon Petersen; Chase Petersen; and Brianna Petersen. She is also survived by her sister: Eleanore Bruck of Redding, California; and a host of dear friends.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Inurnment will be at the Old Glory Columbarium. A reception will follow at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 South Union Boulevard.

Irene will be best remembered for her dedication to Christ.
