Iva M. “Mae” Howey, 92, of Colorado Springs passed away on July 28, 2020. She was a resident of Colorado Springs for over 50 years and formerly a resident of Hugo, Colorado. She was an Office Administrator with the Army and Air Force Exchange (AAFES) for 20 years where she retired.
Mae was born on October 28, 1927 to Andrew Jackson and Sophia Suzanne (Glaue) Campbell in Ordway, Colorado. She attended Hugo Union School, and graduated in 1945. She was married January 19, 1952 in Raton, New Mexico to Clyde N. Howey.
Mae was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She traveled a lot with her husband who was in the Air Force. She loved to play softball and was on a bowling league. She enjoyed going out listening to country music and dancing. But mostly she loved spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Gary A. Howey (Karen); grandchildren: Jenna McPhee (John), Julia Howey (Kyle), Matthew Howey; great-grandchildren: Madison and Jackson McPhee; a niece, Cindee Turner (Marlon); and nephew, Jack Lindt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde N. Howey; parents, Andrew Campbell and Susan Marquand; her sister, Rose Lindt; brother-in-law, Harold F. Lindt; and nephew, Harold Wayne Lindt.
Private scattering will be at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Rose Gardens near the Veterans Honor Court.
