J. Donald BartekDon Bartek, 89, of Parker, Colorado, died on October 28, 2018. He was born in Omaha, NE on December 18, 1928 to parents Julius and Bernadette Bartek.

His is survived by his wife of 43 years, Elise Bartek; his daughters, Amy (Bartek) Creeden, and Jamie (Bartek) Jaques; sons in law, Sean Creeden, and Matt Jaques; three grandsons, Jackson, Colin, and Owen; and two granddaughters, Karly, and Grace. He is also survived by his two sisters, Sr. Barbara Bartek, and Kathyrn (Bartek) Wajdak; and a brother, Fr. William Bartek.

Don was a Catholic priest in the Diocese of Omaha, Nebraska for 20 years. After moving to Colorado in 1974, he married Elise, and was the Religious Education Director at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in Colorado Springs, CO. He finished his career as an insurance salesman for Surety Life. Don was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and served in the local chapter of Sertoma.

He loved his family dearly and was always the life of the party, his enthusiasm for life was contagious.  Don (Papa) adored his 5 grandchildren and loved all the time he spent with them.

A Mass to celebrate Don’s life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 2, 2018 at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 6455 Brook Park Drive, Colorado Springs. A visitation at 9:00 a.m. and rosary at 10:00 a.m. will precede the Mass at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rocky Mountain Down Syndrome Association.

  2. Don was an outstanding husband, dad, granddad, priest, brother, son, uncle and friend. He was especially an outstanding man of God. His example to me will be forever remembered and if my efforts to imitate him only scratch the surface I will feel blessed. God rest the soul of a great man!

  5. WE HAVE MANY FOND MEMORIES OF BROTHER DON. HE HELPED ME TO COME INTO THE CHURCH IN 1976. WE SHARED IN CURSILLO AND THE KNIGHTS. WE WILL BE UNABLE TO ATTEND THE CELEBRATION OF HIS LIFE ON FRIDAY. MUCH LOVE TO ELISE AND FAMILY.
