Jack E. Turner, Jr. passed away August 4, 2012 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado.
He was born on July 11, 1939 to Jack E. and Bessie Isabel (Buck) Turner of Kinston, North Carolina. Jack served in the U.S. Army from 1960 – 1982, retiring in Colorado as a SFC and making it his home. During his service Jack fought in Vietnam and received many awards and medals. While stationed in Okinawa he met the love of his life, Miyoko Tomoyose, and they were wed on December 17, 1970. They were married for close to 42 years. Jack took lots of pride in his gardens, for which he had a passion.
Jack will be missed by all who knew him. He touched so many through his generosity.
Jack is survived by his wife, Miyoko; two sons: Pete Turner, and Jack (Liz) Turner; a daughter, Sandy (Jesse) Rodrigues; 6 grandchildren: Desiree, Bethany, Madelyn, Angelo, Dominic, and Gabriel, all of Colorado Springs; and 2 sisters: Rebecca Potter, and Linda Howard, both of North Carolina. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David Turner; and a sister, Ada Jeanette Turner Spry.
A visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. with a funeral service following at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
