James Barton, age 74, passed away December 16, 2014. He was a resident of Colorado Springs for 27 years.
James Harold Barton was born on February 6, 1940 to Hubert Barton and Carra (Williams) Barton in Akron, Ohio.
James was fond of sports. As a youth, he played on his high school basketball team at South High in Akron, which he graduated from in 1958. In later years, he enjoyed watching football. His favorite team was the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
James Barton was a Retired Staff Sergeant Major who served in the United States Army for 28 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his former wife Brigitte Barton; loving daughters Linda Veshka and Sandra Kelley; and his grandchildren Tony, Stephanie, Jacob, Devin, and Anna. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and baby sister Marilyn.
He will be missed by many as a good Father, Opa, Uncle, and friend.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, December 19th, 2014 at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, Colorado Springs, Colorado. The family will be receiving friends at 4pm with a 4:30pm Memorial Service. Services will be celebrated with Military Honors.
