James Carter, age 73, passed away peacefully in his home on July 18, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was a resident of Colorado Springs, CO for 14 years and was formerly a resident of Santa Clarita, CA. He retired from Coca Cola after 31 years as a truck driver and was a semi-retired truck driver with C&C Sand & Stone.
James Carter was born on August 19, 1947, to Russell Carter and Marjorie (Sronce) Carter in Centralia, IL. On May 27, 1972, he married Katherine Ann Carter in Lomita, CA.
Jim was fond of fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, and had an appreciation for guns, politics and religion. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, was a Fourth Degree Knight within the Knights of Columbus. He attended South High School. He served in the United States Army, for 3 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Katherine Carter; his children: Jason Carter (Monica Carter), Eric Carter and Lorraine Carter; his siblings: Robert “Bob” Carter and Judy Hanson (David Hanson); his grandchildren: Veronika Johnson (Troy Johnson), Alexis Golden (Seth Golden), Ariyana Carter and Jason Carter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Marjorie Carter; his siblings: Barbara Maria Carter, John Carter and William Carter.
A rosary will be said from 9:30am to 10am on Thursday, August 05, 2021, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 55 Jefferson St., Monument, CO 80132. A memorial mass will be held, following the rosary, at 10am. A reception will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church following the memorial mass. Inurnment will be at Song of Mary mausoleum, following the reception, located at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
Jim always reminded us that once he was gone, he could not pray for us until we prayed for him. So please, pray for Jim.
