James E. Doolittle Jr.
Jim passed away October 21, 2012. He was born in Ossining, NY on March 9, 1923 to James and Lillian Doolittle. Jim is survived by his wife of 51 years Julia C. Doolittle, children Mariclare Hoffmann (Stefan Johnston) and Jim Doolittle III (Jack Ward), grandchildren Christopher and Amanda Hoffmann and close family friends Richard, Dakota and Brady Hoffmann. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Alice, Ruth and Mary.
Jim served in World War II as a cryptographer. After the war he worked in the printing industry as a typesetter. In 1961 Jim moved to Colorado Springs and taught color separation as an instructor at the International Typographical Union for many years. At the end of his career Jim retired from Current Inc.
Jim was a devoted husband and father. He was a history buff, loved to study genealogy and was an accomplished photographer. Jim will be remembered fondly for his bad puns, his gentle nature and his ability to make us all laugh.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on October 25, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 2030 W. Colorado Avenue at 10 AM. Burial will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery on Friday October 26, 2012.
