James Edward “Sam” Yusten, age 69, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1965, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2012 at the Pikes Peak Hospice residence. He was an electronics engineer, wonderful husband, son, brother, and uncle.
James Edward Yusten was born on June 14, 1942 in Worthington, Minnesota to Edward and Ella (Braun) Yusten. He was a 1960 graduate of Appleton High School and served his country in the United States Navy. He married Jane Marie Moore on June 24, 1967 in Colorado Springs. In 1974, he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and retired from work. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, camping, and working on cars.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jane; his mother, Ella; his sister, Rosella Sutton; two brothers-in-law, Jim Moore and Buddy Bennett; and two sisters-in-law, DeAnna Bennett and Janice Moore. He also has five nieces and three nephews whom he loved very much. He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers-in-law and one niece.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the First Evangelical Free Church, 820 North 30th Street, Colorado Springs. Cremation is planned and his cremains will be scattered at the Shrine of Remembrance Rose Gardens.
