James J. Kennedy
August 25, 1926 – February 2, 2015

James Joseph Kennedy was born in Colorado Springs to parents that immigrated from Ireland. He retired from the Denver Rio Grande Railroad which allowed him to take many train trips to all parts of the United States; often with his sister, Marie, or with his late wife, Elsie Caswell Kennedy.

James served in WWII in the Pacific. He was a life member of American Legion Post 5, and VFW Post 4051.

In retirement he was an enthusiastic volunteer at Memorial Hospital for 20 years. He enjoyed residing at Inn at the Garden Plaza and The Bridge, where he said, “This is like a cruise without the ocean.”

His generous, positive and persevering spirit made this Irishman a delight to know.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie; brothers: John and William; and a sister, Marie.

He will be especially missed by his friends: Pat Miller, Jim Charlton, Sherry Brunson, Elsie Wood family, the Johnston family, the McPherson family, all the people at the Inn and Bridge, and Dr. Kulp and his staff.

There will be a visitation from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Boulevard. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Private Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
