James J. Krack
November 28, 1930 – January 11, 2013
Jim Krack, 82, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, now shares in the promise of eternal life in heaven with his parents, all of the saints, and our loving lord Jesus Christ.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1930, Jim’s family later moved to New York. Jim graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in Rensalaer, Indiana and Loyola University in Los Angeles, California in 1953.
He graduated from the USAF Officers Communications School and served as a station Manager for Armed Forces Radio in Korea from 1954-1955.
After spending several years in electronic sales in Los Angeles, Jim moved his family to Colorado Springs in 1964. He owned and operated Woodmen Kennels until 1977, when he founded the American Boarding Kennels Association, an international trade association for pet care operators. After serving as Executive Director of ABKA for 30 years, he retired in 2007.
Jim is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Donna. They traveled life together for 42 happy years, enjoying God’s creation by trail riding in the mountains on their mules, and sitting by the campfire with their long time friends and faithful dogs.
Jim is also survived by his five children: Ann (Jack) Wellnitz, Mary Noel, James (Frances) Krack, Joseph (Jenny) Krack, and Jace Braun. He was a proud grandfather of 15, and great grandfather of 14. Jim is also survived by his sister, Therese (Gerry) Abbenhaus.
Although confident that Jim is wrapped in the loving embrace of Jesus, his family will miss him deeply, until we are all reunited once again.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church, 574 8th Street, in Calhan, Colorado, at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 2, 2013.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be sent to The Marian House, 14 West Bijou Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 or to the Humane Society of the Pike’s Peak Region, 610 Abbot Lane, Colorado Springs, CO 80905.
