James “Jim” Morgan McCuiston, 83 yrs old, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2012 at his home with family by his side.
He was born in Murray, Kentucky and has called Colorado Springs, Colorado his home for the past 40 years. He served his country in the Army for 23 years and received many awards and commendations, including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Jim went on to retire from several other career opportunities, including a very rewarding placement on the Air Force Academy.
Jim loved to Golf and Bowl and was extremely well at both earning him honors for perfect bowling games and a Hole-in-One. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and was an avid sports enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by both his parents John Morgan and Rachel (Curd) McCuiston, his son Robert Allen McCuiston, one brother Otis McCuiston and one sister Maxine Washington.
He is survived by his wife Susan Lynne McCuiston, his daughters Diane (Will) High of Virginia, Rachel (Tyrone) Rollins of Colorado, Barbra (Nora) Contreras of Colorado, Heather (William) Ulibarri of Colorado, his sons James McCuiston Jr. of Colorado, Heath (Faith) Bigley of Colorado, George House of Texas. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friend Mrs. Ruth Tabscott of Texas.
There will be a private family only Viewing and Services at Shrine of Remembrance on 1730 E. Fountain Blvd, in Colorado Springs on February 16, 2012 at 9:30am. Family reception will be immediately following Viewing Services at The Retired Enlisted Association, Chapter 1 at 834 Emory Circle, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Final Services and Military honors for friends and family will be held at Ft Logan in Denver, Colorado (Staging Area B) on February 21st, 2012 at 11:30am.
