Mr. Jimmy Muse, 80, unexpectedly passed away Friday, January 5, 2024, at St. Francis Medical Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, surrounded by family.
Jimmy was a loving husband, father, and Poppy, a devoted family man who always put his family first. He was always available to help his friends and family with their projects, big or small. Jimmy enjoyed meeting his buddies for coffee most mornings and was an avid reader. He could drive anything with an engine and could fix almost anything. Jimmy was an outdoorsman, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and trips to the Montana mountains with friends.
Jimmy was born May 8, 1943, in Greenwood, Mississippi. He resided with his family until he graduated from Greenwood High School. Jimmy joined the Army Reserves and was sent to Germany during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he married Rebecca “Becky” Brownlow on February 6, 1970, in Greenwood, MS. He and Becky made their home in Lauderdale, MS with their only daughter, Michelle. Jimmy drove a semi-truck for over 30 years with Gulf Oil, Chevron Oil, and Newman Oil.
Jimmy and Becky moved to Wyoming in 1998 to begin their biggest adventure. He managed Bartlett Ranch in LaGrange, WY for 8 and a half years, before relocating to Greeley, Colorado in 2007. Jimmy and Becky returned to Hawk Springs, WY in 2013 for their retirement years.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Becky Muse, Hawk Springs, WY; daughter, Michelle L. Brickler (Tim), Peyton, CO; and five grandchildren: Cameron, Graham, Finn, Emory, and Merrin Brickler, Peyton, CO. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Killebrew of Cleveland, MS; two brothers: Larry Muse (Betty) of Lauderdale, MS, and Eddie Muse (Judy) of Greenwood, MS; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Muse is preceded in death by his parents, Ope Reed and Doris Muse; as well as his sister, Rosiland Avent.
Per their requests, The Muse Family prefers donations be made in lieu of flowers to Michelle Brickler, for contribution to Graham Brickler’s mission trip to Kenya, Africa in July 2024.
