James John Barela, III
James John Barela, III, a gentle giant, an amazing and loving husband, and a doting and devoted father of three passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at his home in Colorado Springs. He was in the IT field.
James was born on June 9, 1977 in Fort Polk, Louisiana to James and Myong (Shin) Barela, Jr. He was a 1995 graduate of Widefield High School where he competed in power lifting and was an architect of great firework displays on the Fourth of July. He was an avid competitor in the online gaming world. He was a grill master and computer whiz. He loved movies about the undead and all things that were zombie. He was a Marvel enthusiast who loved Captain America and Spiderman. Superman he was.
He is survived by his wife, Amanda; and his three children; his parents; and his in-laws, Randy and Belinda Monroe. James also is survived by his grandmother: Cora; and his maternal grandparents: Shin Ja (and wife Lee Ea Hee) Uk of Korea; a sister: Autumn Jade (John Theron) Robinson; and a nephew.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Heart of the Springs Church, 2726 North Union Boulevard. A luncheon reception will follow the services at the church. Please do not wear black, rather sport your favorite superhero.
Private nicheside committal services are planned for Thursday, April 26 at the Shrine of Remembrance Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, East Patio Columbarium.
Memorials in James’s name may be made to the Barela Children Educational Fund in care of the family.
He will be dearly missed by all those who loved him so very much.
