James Kenneth Lenhart
James Kenneth Lenhart, a Pearl Harbor survivor at Hickam Field, died November 5, 2012 in Slidell, LA. Born in Frederick, MD to the late Raymond Wilbur Lenhart and Emma Jane Holtz Lenhart on March 3, 1921, he joined the Army Air Corps in July, 1939 and received pilot training after December 7, 1941. He served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps and the Air Force for 26 years when he retired in August, 1965 reaching the rank of Lt. Colonel and moved with his wife, Dorothy Lenhart, to Colorado Springs, CO. Jim worked at Hewlett-Packard for 15 years and he and Dorothy were members of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by Dorothy in 2005.
He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Lenhart Mahnke and her husband, Dale Richard Mahnke, grandson Aaron Louis Mahnke, Sr. and wife Patricia Peltier Mahnke, and four great-grandchildren, Aaron Louis Mahnke, Jr., David James Mahnke, Caleb Joseph Mahnke, and Eliza Jade Mahnke, all of Slidell, Louisiana.
Memorial services with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Inurnment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Chapel Mausoleum.
