James William Shufelt
James William Shufelt, 57 of Monument passed away Monday, December 30th at Memorial Hospital after complications from surgery. He was a Navy veteran of the Viet Nam War and an valued employee of Synthes Ltd. for 33 years.
James was born January 26, 1956 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts to John and Ellen Shufelt. Except for his time in military service, he has lived in the Tri-Lakes area since 1971. Jim enjoyed reading, had a thirst for knowledge, and loved to bowl.
He was married to Glenda (Perkins) Shufelt for 25 years, who preceded him in death along with his father, John Henry Shufelt. Jim is survived by his mother Ellen Shufelt of Palmer Lake; brothers: John Shufelt of Canby, Oregon, Michael Shufelt of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and David Shufelt of Indianola, Iowa; a step-daughter Mandy Robertson of Monument, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard. Inurnment will be in the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Rose Gardens with memorialization at the Veterans Honor Court.
