Jan Raetz of Colorado Springs died on 02/22/13 at home amongst family and friends. She was born in Illinois on 08/07/42.
She served as AFA Athletics receptionist when she met her husband, Bernie. She attended French culinary school and started her catering business. She was an illustrious orthodontist receptionist before becoming a thriving realtor for 25 years. She loved being part of the coaches’ wives, playing bridge, and traveling the world, especially Maui. She adored her long-standing friends and family, especially her grandson Rowan: “the wonder kid”, “angel boy”, and the apple of her eye.
She is survived by her children Edward Raetz (Carina) and Alison Barvoets (Cliff) and grandson Rowan. She is also survived by her brother George Dawes of Tomball, TX and his family, her brother-in-law Gene Hardcastle of Langlois, Oregon, and step-mother Garnita Dawes of Colorado Springs. She was preceded in death by her husband (Bernie), father (George), mother (Margaret), and sister (Cheryl).
Visitation 6-8pm Wednesday 02/27/13 at Shrine of Remembrance, 5440 North Union Boulevard. Public interment occurs at 2:00pm at AFA cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00pm Thursday 02/28/13 at AFA Chapel.
