Lisa died October 27, 2013 at home with her family. Lisa was 60 years old. She was born October 7, 1953 in Pensacola, Florida. Her father was a WWII Navy pilot Ace finishing up his service taking pictures over Cuba. Her mother is a retired school teacher. She grew up in Pensacola, Florida through 2nd grade and then moved to Coral Gables for 3rd grade. The family moved to Hermosa Beach, California for 4th grade. The family move to Newport Beach, California for 5th grade through high school. Lisa graduated from the University of California Irvine with a B.A. in Political Science and a Master of Science in Administration. Lisa finished her coursework toward a Ph.D. in Education Policy from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Her work was stopped by her first brain tumor in October 2011. She was awarded her Master of Education degree on May 10, 2013 to a standing ovation. A second GBM tumor was removed June 6, 2013.
Lisa worked as a real estate broker with Smartt-Ingels Western Realty, Inc. from 1979 through 1987. She worked with Citadel Realty, Inc. from 1988 through 2011.
Lisa loved her family, community, education and church. She loved to sing and seek social justice. She loved to be at the cutting edge of the story of life. She attended Ascension Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband, Patrick W. Mieritz, their children Daniel Gustav Mieritz, and Emily Anna Mieritz, her mother Janet Chalgren Hoag and her brother John Bannatyne Hoag IV and his daughter Marina, her stepchildren Elizabeth and Joel Mieritz and his wife Tamaki and her grandchildren Ryley Nuncio, Jayleigh Mieritz and Malachi Vincent.
Services will be held Saturday November 2 at 9:30 a.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church, ELCA, 2505 N. Circle Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909 followed by burial at Evergreen Cemetery. A lunch gathering follows at Colorado Springs Country Club for Lisa’s family and many friends.
