Janet Vlach, age 88, a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado since 1981 and formerly of Wausau, Wisconsin passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at a local care facility. She was a retired elementary school teacher, a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother.
Janet Lorraine Kohrt was born on August 22, 1925 in Kewaunee, Wisconsin to the late Frank and Emily (Svoboda) Kohrt. She received her teaching degree from the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh. She married Wallace Charles Vlach on December 27, 1947 in Kewaunee. Together they raised a family. Janet loved teaching children and playing bridge.
She taught in the Wausau parochial schools for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wausau and later at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in Colorado Springs. She will be best remembered for her love of conversation.
She is survived by her children: Linda Pindel of Waukesha, Wisconsin; Michael (and Julia) Vlach of Chandler, Arizona; Pamela (and Salvador) Gomez of Colorado Springs; and Timothy (and Jane) Vlach of Colorado Springs. She is also survived by nine wonderful grandchildren: Laurie, Heidi, Amy, Arica, Jessica, Simona, Allison, Britney and Harrison. She has two great-grandchildren: Arianna and Landen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wally in 2007, her daughter, Mary Vlach and her brother: Richard Kohrt.
A Memorial Mass is planned for 4:00 pm on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Holy Apostles Catholic Church Chapel, 4925 N. Carefree Circle, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80918. A memorial service will also be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 18, 2014 at Restlawn Memorial Park in Wausau, where burial will take place with her beloved, Wally and Mary.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Holy Apostles Catholic Church.
