Janice K. Nicklin, age 63, a resident of Peyton since 1990, and formerly of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Bloomington, Minnesota, La Crosse Wisconsin, and Des Plaines, Illinois, passed away on March 24, 2014 at the Pikes Peak Hospice Residence. She had retired after 25 years of service as an administrator with Colorado Springs Utilities. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Janice K. Janowiak was born on February 24, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Raymond and Marcella (Ritter) Janowiak. She was a 1969 graduate of Elk Grove High School in Elk Grove, Illinois and attended Wisconsin State University at LaCrosse.
Janice enjoyed living in the country, crafts, cooking, gardening, and playing the organ, music, her children and her grandchildren. She will be best remembered for her kind heart, doll making and the many memorable family times at Christmas.
She was married to Russell D. Nicklin on May 2, 1992 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Calhan.
She is survived by her husband, Russell D. Nicklin of Peyton; and five children: Brian (and Melissa) Walinski, Sarah (and Michael) Edwards, Kelly Walinski all of Colorado Springs; Michelynn (and Douglas) Hollister of Falcon, and John Nicklin, of Colorado Springs. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Woronicz of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania and her sister, Carol Schnulle of Des Plaines, Illinois and nine wonderful grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at 1p.m. on Friday, March 28 prior to the service in the Chapel. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., at the Shrine of Remembrance “Vista Grande” Chapel, 5460 North Union Boulevard. A reception will follow. Cremation is planned.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation.
