Janis S. Hahn, 74, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on December 26, 2024. Born September 29, 1950, Janis was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Brian E. Hahn, and her parents, Clarence S. and Esther V. Michelic. She is survived by her son, Jason, and his wife, Alanna; her sisters, Karen Martin (Scott) and Mary Ryan (Michael); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will deeply miss her.

Janis was a graduate of Wheaton North High School, Class of 1968, and went on to earn a degree in English and Theater from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1972. Later in life, she pursued graduate studies in leadership development and clinical counseling, graduating from Bellevue University in 2008 and 2012, respectively.

Throughout her career, Janis made an indelible impact in a variety of fields, including mental health counseling, political consulting, and community service. She worked as a mental health counselor, and as a political and community campaign consultant, including serving as State Director for Bill Richardson’s presidential campaign in New Hampshire. Janis also worked on campaigns for the Los Angeles School District and produced nationally syndicated radio programming for ABC/Watermark.

A passionate advocate for her community, Janis was a committed volunteer and committee member for CASA of the Pikes Peak Region. She also had a deep and lasting connection to her alma mater, Wheaton North High School, where she was a founding member and on the Board of Directors of the Wheaton North High School Alumni Association. The Association recently honored her with the Roger Heaton Award for Outstanding Service to the WNHS Alumni Association Foundation.

Janis was known for her unwavering dedication, her warm heart, and her tireless service to others. Her legacy of kindness, advocacy, and commitment to making a difference will be remembered by all who knew her.

A private memorial service will be held for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CASA of the Pikes Peak Region in Janis’s honor.
