Jean C. Kelley

Jean C. Kelley, age 89, passed away peacefully at home, on March 10, 2014. She was a retired medical receptionist and had been a resident of Colorado Springs for 65 years.

She was born on December 31, 1924 in Newport, Rhode Island to William Russell and Emily Marie (Carpenter) Doherty. She married Frank Joseph Kelley on January 15, 1946 at St. Mary’s in Newport.

Jean enjoyed vacations and traveling the world with her husband during his Army military career. She also liked to garden, bowl, play cards, read, and was an avid Broncos fan. She volunteered at the gift shop at St. Francis Hospital for 20 years.

She is survived by her daughters: Terrie Gabel, and Tina Sondgerath (husband Mike); her sister, Anita Coffey; 2 grandchildren: Kristin Smith, and Kent Sondgerath; and 4 great-grandchildren: Mikaela, MacKenna, Trevor, and Garrett. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Tracy Kelley; and a son-in-law, Kurt Gabel.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Private interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
