Jeffery Mitchell (Mickey) Bagley, aged 76, went to heaven on April 27th, 2021. He was a resident of Colorado Springs since 1986, except for three (3) years in Limon, Colorado and nine (9) months in Seattle, Washington. He served over 23 years in the USAF with tours in Japan, Germany, England, Korea, Denver, Colorado Springs, California, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Illinois. He continued his service after retirement as a defense contractor in satellite communications, solving top-secret problems involving high level government clearance.
Jeff was born in Vivian, Louisiana to Claude H. Bagley and Mary Ruth (Sloan) on June 30th, 1944. Jeff met Colleen Massey in Wiesbaden, Germany and married her in Claremont, Minnesota on July 12, 1969.
Jeff loved western movies, books and country music. He was an excellent cook and liked to garden. He also enjoyed golfing, camping, bowling and a good joke or two. He received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from National College.
Jeff suffered a major stroke on January 30th, 1998 and with several weeks and months of rehab services he was able to speak, swallow and walk, but unable to use his right arm. He had many setbacks in the years that followed, and he always maintained a good spirit with a can do attitude. On April 14th, 2021 he sustained another stroke and was unable to recover from it.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife Colleen; daughter, Sonja McCartney (Robert); son, Joel Bagley (Peggy); grandchildren: Claudia and Kenneth Bagley, Isabelle and Robert McCartney and Ernie McCartney (Lindsay) (Marcella); Daniel McCartney (Heather) (Lillie); his mother-in-law, Virginia Massey; sisters, Kay Hayner, and Minette Sims; brothers, Jerry Bagley (Bridget) and Billy Gale (Debbie); sisters-in-law, Donna Gillespie, Mary Ann Caldwell (Bill), Marlene Nelson (Wes), Pam Bachman (Kurt), and Cindy Fedder; and brother-in-law, Steve Massey (Debbie). He is also survived by aunts, uncles, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, brother Claude (Buddy) Bagley. Father-in-law, brother-in-law, and various other family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life is tentatively scheduled for June 30th, 2021. Burial will be at Pikes Peak National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeff’s name to Silver Key Senior Services, 1605 S Murray, Colorado Springs, Co 80916 or to a charity of choice.
We wish to thank all of the staff at Interim Healthcare Hospice for their wonderful care and consultation so we were able to keep him home.
