Jenny Dolores Montoya (Tapia), age 84, passed away peacefully at home in Colorado Springs, Colorado on December 11, 2021.
Jenny was born April 26, 1937 to Catarino Tapia and Eutemia Gallegos in Kim, Colorado.
Jenny married Jim Montoya on June 27, 1953 in Trinidad, Colorado.
Jenny is survived by her six children: Mary A. Bader, Jimmy J. Montoya, Walter G. Montoya, Raymond D. Montoya, Neil R. Montoya and Sandy L. Tramaglino; sixteen grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jenny was preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings: Albert Tapia, Madeline Medina, Pauline Bernal, Catarino “JR” Tapia, Ernest Tapia, and Ralph Tapia; and her beloved husband Jim Montoya of “68” years, who passed just five months earlier.
Jenny was a homemaker and a Colorado Native that loved her family and friends. She was a precious, beautiful soul who had a love for playing the piano, cats, owls, trips to Cripple Creek casinos, Bingo, and crochet and she loved flowers.
A visitation will be held Monday, December 20, 2021, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the Shrine of Remembrance, “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., with a funeral service to follow at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expy., and a reception will follow at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 1318 N. Circle Dr.
Memorials in honor of Jenny may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Jenny will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, auntie and friend.
