Jeremy Gil Martinez, a lifelong resident of Colorado Springs, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016. He was a disabled United States Army Veteran, serving for 5 years in Iraq and stationed in Germany. He was also an alumni of the Wounded Warrior Project.

Jeremy was born on April 10, 1989 in Colorado Springs to Steven Troy Martinez and Lisa Ann (Butler) Martinez. Jeremy was artistic, loved to draw, and was a good writer. He was into personal fitness and enjoyed working out. He also enjoyed the outdoors and hunting.

He is survived by his son, Gabriel Vincent Barron-Martinez; his daughter, Ysabelle Rihanna Martinez; his grandparents: Henrietta Martinez, and James and Kathy Butler; his parents: Steven and Lisa Martinez; his siblings: Ashley Nicole Martinez and Cameron James Martinez; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents: Modesto Gilbert Martinez, Norman T. and Carol I. Sims.

A visitation will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery following the service. A reception will then be held at the Multipurpose Facility, 1029 Ford Street.

Memorials in Jeremy’s name may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
