Joan E. Coleman, age 85, passed away on January 30, 2018 after a short illness. She was a resident of Colorado Springs for 26 years and was formerly a resident of New York City. She was a retired Verizon employee.

Joan was born to Elsie and Ernest Scholpp on February 9, 1932 in New York. She later married Harold Coleman in 1957 in New York.

Joan was fond of travel. She was an excellent Air Force wife. She loved her travels to Texas, Mississippi, Scotland, Germany and Taiwan. She did crafts and volunteer work. She also loved to shop. Her last volunteer work was for Mt. St. Francis in the craft room for 12 years. She dearly loved all the sisters.

Joan was a member of the United Brethren Church in New York where she taught Sunday school. After moving to Colorado she was a member of Village Seven Presbyterian in Colorado Springs.

Joan is survived by her sister, Mildred, of Colorado Springs. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 2 P.M. Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Private inurnment Ethel Merman Columbarium.
