Joan G. Hoth

Joan G. Hoth, 91, passed away March 5, 2014. She was born September 5, 1922 in Fredonia, Kansas to Harry and Gladys Galligan. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Elizabeth “Betty” Lee, twin sister Jane Hard, and brother Harry Galligan, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her eldest daughter Janie Hoth McKibbon of Littleton, Colorado. Joan, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs, attended North Junior, Colorado Springs High School, and Colorado College.

A devoted wife and mother, Joan is survived by her husband of almost 68 years, Harry Hoth, and daughters Joie (Burt) Stevens of Lone Tree, Colorado, Susie (Tom) Briggs and Patti Hoth (Jimmy Clark) of Colorado Springs.

Joan was a member of La Sertoma and bowled with their league for many years. Her hobbies included playing golf and fishing at the family’s Mt. Massive cabin. Joan enjoyed music and dancing with her Harry. Joan and Harry loved Hawaii, spending winters at their home in Wailea, Maui. Avid Bronco fans and season ticket holders, Joan and Harry with family and friends, attended Bronco games for years including this past season. Joan was a member of Rock of Ages Lutheran Church.

Joan will be especially missed by her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she adored. John and Becky McKibbon, Courtney, Riley and Sydney; Joni and John Doherty; Jamie and Dave Bullen, Liam, Kieren, and Jensen; Lynne and Ben Schmidt, Carson and Avery; Brad Stevens; Preston and Amanda Briggs, Davis; and Kellen and Katie Briggs loved and will dearly miss their “Tutu.”

The family would like to thank Windy Mason, loving caregiver, companion, and friend for so many years and her special caregiver Rhoda Yates.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 11 at 12:30pm at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. A Celebration of Life luncheon reception will follow at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 South Union Boulevard. Thomas Dawson director of music for The Commodores will be playing the piano for this event. Private entombment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Main Chapel Mausoleum.

Joan was indirectly involved with many community events, charities and fund-raisers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
