Joan (Chiyoko) K. Reilly entered eternal rest on July 5, 2017. She was born April 23, 1936 in Edakameshuege, Hokkaido, Japan. She married Charles H. Reilly (deceased 1984) in 1953 and came to the United States in 1954.
A naturalized citizen of the United States, she loved camping, fishing, and visiting the mountains in Colorado. She also loved gambling in Cripple Creek, Colorado. She was a resident of Colorado Springs since 1956.
Charles and Joan had five children: Therese Reilly (deceased in 2017), Charlene Buckner (deceased in 2011), Joanne Mikasa and her husband Austin of Pueblo, Colorado, Arlene Reilly-Sandoval, D.S.W. of Pueblo, Colorado, and Charles D. Reilly, M.D. and his wife Suzie of San Antonio, Texas.
She is survived by 8 grandchildren: Charles L. Buckner, Paularae Buckner, Arlene M. Whitfield, Patrick Mikasa, Marie Mikasa, Carlos Sandoval, Amy Hashimoto, and Justin Sandoval; and 7 great-grandchildren: Jasmin Buckner, Alexander Bues, Giselle Buckner, Aiyanna Whitfield, Alyssa Whitfield, Isaac Whitfield, and Josiah Whitfield.
She is also survived by three brothers: Yoshikuni Nakata, Yoktun Nakata, Masau Nakata; and two sisters, Mikiyo Nakata, and Odaka Mekeyo all residing in Hokkaido, Japan.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 1:40 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2017, followed by a Rosary at 1:40 p.m. at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. The funeral service will start at 2:00 p.m. also at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery following the funeral service.
