Joan Merlene Peyton, age 82, passed away on July 21st, 2015. She was a resident of Colorado Springs for over 30 years and was formerly a resident of Hastings, Nebraska. Her occupations were bookkeeper, business manager, secretary, and waitress.
Joan M. Peyton was born on November 5th, 1932 to Merton Bilslend and Irene (Skinner) Bilslend in Pratt, Kansas. She married Dick Q. Peyton in Hastings, Nebraska on January 22nd, 1949.
Joan enjoyed volunteer work and serving others. She also enjoyed Christian studies and completed several years of Bible Study Fellowship courses. She was a long time member of Sunnyside Christian Church. She attended Hastings High School and graduated in 1951.
She is survived by her children: Tanya Jacobberger, James Peyton, and Diane Moore-Saenz; her grandchildren: Trishia, Janae, Jay, and Jamie; and many great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 28th at the Shrine of Remembrance, “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs. A reception will be held following the memorial at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 S. Union Blvd., Colorado Springs.
