John Charles Hudson was born to Juanita “Gerry” and Raymond Hudson in Colorado Springs on March 23, 1947. On March 28, 2017, he departed this world for a better place.
He attended Ivywild School, South Junior, and Palmer High School where he graduated in 1965. John received a marketing degree from the University State of New York in 1990, and had six Associate’s Degrees and two certificates from Pikes Peak Community College.
John liked calling himself a Renaissance man, dabbling in art, sculpture, entertainment, cars, stained glass, whip-cracking, and other fields of interest. He wrote several novels, some of which he made into audio books. His deep, resonant voice led him into broadcasting where he worked for various radio stations, the last of note being Oldies 92.9. He was known there to fans as Johnnie Huston. While there, he achieved the highest ratings KSPZ had ever received.
He was a bright, witty man who knew an infinite amount of trivia. He loved Rock and Roll Trivia and one of his books is devoted to that.
Thanks to each of his caretakers for their love and concern, and to Abode Hospice.
He will be sorely missed by his devoted fans, friends, and the love of his life, Diane Shearer.
A visitation will be held from 9:15-10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017 with a funeral service to follow at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, CO 80910. Private interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
