John Francis Hosman

John F. Hosman, age 81, passed away on September 18, 2016. He was a resident of Colorado Springs/Monument since 1977 when he wasn’t abroad.

John was born on June 24, 1935 to William F Hosman and Marion (Ferrence) Hosman in Chicago, Illinois.

John was fond of searching for lost treasure. He spent much time after his retirement metal detecting, looking for that which was lost. He also enjoyed the stars as he was a celestial navigator in the United States Navy and also taught this skill to other militaries abroad. Spending time with family and holiday dinners was another of John’s favorite things to do. He could often be found in the kitchen preparing a huge meal for Thanksgiving or Christmas, or making his famous cheese dip for a Broncos game.
John was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Monument, Colorado. He served in the United States Navy for 23 years and retired as a Chief Quartermaster.

He is survived by his children: Paul Hosman and wife Cindy, Brian Hosman and wife Natalie, 5 grandchildren and his 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.

A Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2016 followed with a Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. held at St. Peter Catholic Church, 55 North Jefferson Street, Monument, Colorado 80132. A reception will be held following the Mass at St. Peter Catholic Church. Inurnment will take place on a later date at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.

John finally found the treasure he was seeking on September 18, 2016, when he was released from his earthly body and was united with his Heavenly Father. His faith was strong and his heart was pure. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend, and will be missed by many that knew him.
