John G. Baird, age 81, passed away on Monday, October 14th, 2019. He was a resident of Colorado Springs, CO for 44 years. John retired with the rank of Major in the United States Army.

John was born on January 10th, 1938 to Ernest and Delite (Stauffer) Baird in Barry, Illinois. He married Kikuko Morishima on March 6th, 1964 in Naha, Okinawa Japan.

John was fond of Volksmarching and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He took active leadership roles in the local Volksmarching organization and was also a Deacon at his Baptist Church. He attended Al Wood Senior High School in Woodhull, Illinois and graduated from Pikes Peak Community College with a degree in Computer Science. John served in the United States Army for 20 years. He completed two tours of duty in Vietnam where he was awarded several commendations including two Bronze Stars for heroism in combat.

He is survived by his son, James Baird; and his daughter Janet Baird. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Kikuko Kay Baird and daughter Marsha Delorey.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 19th at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
