John G Sikole, 85, passed away on August 24th. He was a Colorado Native and well known for painting many custom cars in the area. John was born on January 30th to Frank and Mary (Lepey) Sikole in Colorado Springs, CO. He grew up in the mining community of Pike View and graduated from Colorado Springs High School 1954. On June 2nd he married Jo (aka Carmella) in Colorado Springs later raising two daughters.
Like his father before him, John absolutely loved the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, waterskiing, you name it. He spent a summer at Glen Cove Pikes Peak photographing tourists and cars. Another 2 years in the Army, posted at Fort Carson he painted Army vehicles. John continued to paint and restore classic cars well into his 80s. He always enjoyed working on them, driving them and even drag racing them.
John is survived by his daughters, Deb and Dena. He was preceded in death by Jo Sikole, his wife of 54 years.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 1st, 10am at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO.
