John Joseph Krakar, Jr., passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024. He was surrounded by his family. He worked for Lockheed Martin for 37 years as an aerospace engineer.
He was born on August 29, 1937 in Joliet, Illinois, to John Joseph Krakar and Winifred Lila (Love) Krakar. He grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico. He then served eight years in the National Guard. Six of those years were in New Mexico and two in California.
On January 13, 1968, he married Roberta L. Nelson in Sunnyvale, California.
He loved playing the banjo; playing with the Peninsula Banjo Band in California for many years and with the Over the Hill Band at a nutrition center in Santa Clara.
John is survived by his wife, Roberta L. (Nelson) Krakar; his daughter, Barbara L. Crepeau; and his son, Jamie N. Krakar. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother.
Entombment will be private at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Garden of Angels.
