John L. Havill

John L. Havill, age 77, passed away February 20, 2013 in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he had been a resident since 1982. He served the community as a meteorologist for over 30 years.
John Lee Havill was born November 11, 1935 in Casper, Wyoming to the late Corwin and Dorothy Havill. John spent 4 years in the United States Navy, where he learned about meteorology. He met and then married Elaine Sipple on July 2, 1983 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Elaine preceded John in death in 2009.
John was active in the Odd Fellows and Rebekah’s. He served on the Board of Directors of the Hildebrand Care Center in Canon City until 2012. He also enjoyed stamp and coin collecting. Throughout his life he always loved the weather and continued to update those he loved about the daily forecast.
John is survived by his daughter: Pamela Nelson of Lacey, Washington; his sisters: Sue (husband, Bob) Nelson of Port Orchard, Washington and Kay Wertz of Buffalo, Wyoming; a brother: Dean (wife, Carol) Havill of Sarcoxie, Missouri; one grandson: Derek (wife, Janie) Nelson of Lacey, Washington; and two great-grandchildren: Maya and Shane Nelson.
Memorial services will be held in John’s honor at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 25, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel.
