John William Thompson, age 66, passed away on February 27, 2020. He was a longtime resident of Colorado Springs and had formerly resided in Las Vegas, Nevada.
John was born on May 18, 1953 to Walter and Kikue Thompson in Fort Hood, Texas. On December 20th, 2013 he married Abelardo “Lalo” Bonilla Garcia in New York City. He graduated from Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs. He became the business owner of K-Rand Painting.
John enjoyed going to Cripple Creek, Colorado and traveling to visit friends and family in Las Vegas, Nevada. He also enjoyed traveling to Palm Springs where he and his husband Lalo vacationed at their condo.
He is survived by his loving husband, Lalo; his siblings, Richard Thompson (Gail) and Patty Kochenower (Jerra); his sister-in-law Peggy Thompson; his nieces and nephews, Nicki Radomski (Dave), Craig Thompson, Dana Smith (Nick), Monica Langness (Jake), Daniel Sanchez, Joshua Sanchez, Jonathan Atkins, Ilana Atkins; several great nieces and nephews; Karen and James Atkins along with their family in Las Vegas; Lalo’s family, Mayra, Marlene, Ivonne, Elizabeth, Janet, Carlos, David, and mother Antelma Garcia; and several family members in Japan and Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Kikue Thompson, brother Steve Thompson, nephew Jeremy Thompson, and Mark Wolfe.
John has touched the lives of many and anyone who knew him loved him greatly. What will be most missed about him will be his amazing sense of humor, his love for everyone in his life, and his ability to bring everyone together. John’s unconditional love and warmth drew people to him. His positive attitude was infectious and it was hard not to smile or laugh just being in his presence. It’s no surprise he was admired and loved by so many. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
