Jon L. VanPelt
Jon L. VanPelt, age 21, a resident of Monument since 2000, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 8, 2013 with his family by his side. He was a loving son, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend.
Jon began life on March 27, 1992 in Moscow, Russia, the beloved child of Albert and Claudette (Johnstone) VanPelt. He was a 2008 graduate of Lewis Palmer High School. He loved music, his beloved pit bull, Izzy, and his cat, Salem. He was studying the Bible in hopes to become a chaplain and was interested in working with youth.
He is survived by his mother, Claudette G. VanPelt; his father, Captain Albert M. VanPelt, United States Navy (Ret.); his maternal grandparents, Allan and Claudine Johnstone; his brothers, Reginald, Nathan, and Jason VanPelt; aunts, Laurette Johnstone, Paulette Johnstone, and Jeanette Lively; and numerous uncles and cousins who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Merle and Della VanPelt.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. A reception will follow at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 South Union Boulevard.
