Jorge Espinosa-Velez
SSGT Jorge Espinosa – Velez, USAFR, age 26, a resident of Fountain, Colorado died tragically in a motor vehicle accident in Wichita, Kansas, where he was employed. He was an Aerospace Propulsion Journeyman in the United States Air Force Reserve.
Jorge was born on October 1, 1987 in Puerto Rico to Jorge Espinosa-Cruz and Maritza (Velez) Espinosa. He had been a resident of the Fountain area since 1994 and was a 2005 graduate of Fountain-Fort Carson High School. He then attended Wichita State University. He married Lynett Amber Bowen on May 3, 2008 at Provider Chapel at Fort Carson.
Jorge was a wonderful husband, son, brother, grandson and friend. He was also a member of the Honda S2000 Car Club.
He is survived by his wife: Lynett of Fountain, Colorado; his mother: Maritza Espinosa of Englewood, Colorado; his father: Jorge Espinosa-Cruz of Colorado Springs; his brothers: Eric (wife, Jamie) Espinosa of Colorado Springs and Javier Espinosa of Fountain. He also has one niece and one nephew.
Jorge is also survived by his grandparents: Jorge Espinosa, Carmen Cruz, Laura Soto and Mariano Velez, all of Puerto Rico and many friends and loved ones in both Colorado and Kansas.
A visitation is planned for 5:00 – 7:00pm on Monday evening at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. A Rosary Service will follow at 7:00 pm in the Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Saint Dominic Catholic Church in Security. Graveside Services with Air Force Honors will be held at 1pm Tuesday at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
