Joseph Floss was born on November 21, 1930 in Los Angeles, California to the late Charles and Pauline Floss. He went home to be with the Lord at 84 years of age on Sunday, September 6, 2015 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Joe served in the United States Navy. He enjoyed his engineering work at Martin Marietta. He became an expert in AutoCad and taught at the college level as well as publishing automatic routines. Joe had a passion for writing, teaching and encouraging others. He spread his love and his remarkably positive attitude with everyone that he met.
Joe is survived by his wife, Wanda Surdi; sons: Michael, Stephen and David Gurley; daughter, Lisa Blaylock; stepchildren: Anna Widmayer and Rita and Guy Surdi; grandchildren: Christopher, Cameron, Camille, Conner and Scott Gurley, Annie and Bryan Blaylock and Michael and Alan Widmayer. He is also survived by two sisters: Alice Kinney and Patty Osborn as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, Charles Floss, Jr.
In addition, the family would also like to extend their thanks and prayers to the help he received from Bonaventure, DaVita Dialysis and St. Francis Hospital friends and staff. Joe will definitely be remembered for his humor and zest for life. He thought miracles occurred every day.
Visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. A funeral mass will follow at 1:30 p.m.
